A step away from the classically produced Knappstein Estate Riesling style The Insider looks to showcase the winemakers ability to blend separate parcels of wine all produced in their own individual way From Watervale in the south to Clare in the north select patches of grapes are chosen from Knappsteins Estate vineyards for their ability to contribute to the unique Insider style ltbr gtltbr gtThe fruit is divided into different parcels One parcel was made in stainless steel and underwent slow cool fermentation which was stopped early to drive the lemon sherbet and mandarin flavours a second parcel fermented in barrel to drive texture and palate weight and a third parcel received some skin contact in the press for richer flavours The components combine in harmonious balanceltbr gtltbr gtGorgeously youthful and elegantly fragrant with crunchy apple lime peel and wet limestone notes its concentrated and persistent on the palate delivering excellent fruit purity and length Superbly structured and gracefully long At its best 2025 to 2041 96 Points Sam Kim Wine Orbitltbr gtltbr gtExcellent intensity here and the flesh to match it This is a pulpy Riesling but its drinkability remains writ large Lemon pulp lime grapefruit and slate characters put on a commanding display Reduction slight adds texture as much as flavour This is very good 93 Points Campbell Mattinson Wine Frontltbr gtltbr gtPale colour very bright with a beautifully pure Riesling floral aroma the palate following on faithfully with great delicacy and intensity refinement and length A copybook young Clare Riesling 93 Points Huon Hooke The Real Review
